Thank you for visiting us on the web. Riverside Baptist Church is a Christ-centered, interracial
and inclusive community of faith. We are warm, engaged, thoughtful and do our best to integrate our hearts and our minds as
we journey in faith. We would be honored to have you visit us.
Riverside is an
oasis of peace and renewal in the city. We aren't overly programmed, but we do engage our world through significant ministry.
We enter the sanctuary primarily on Sundays and when we do, we sit beneath the shade of a tree, crank down the bucket into
the well and drink deeply. Then we fill our canteens and head back out into the world, refreshed and empowered to live for
Christ. We insist on welcoming persons into our church. The barriers and boundaries that get placed in front us every other
day of the week are removed here. Young and old, Black and White, Gay and Straight, Male and Female--we are one race here,
the Human race. If you are looking for a place to worship freely; a place where Christ is the center and you don't have to
hang up your mind along with your coat in order to worship, then come and visit us. We just might be the home you've been
looking for. We look forward to seeing you. Peace to you and all whom you love.

Previously Stated:
"Once upon a time, the church took the position of Iranian
President Ahmadinejad who said recently, 'In Iran, we don't have homosexuals, like in your country.' The audience
at Columbia University rightfully met that statement with derisive laughter. The church had for the longest time taken such
a view. It then graduated to another view stated succinctly as “don’t ask, don’t tell.” This is an
immoral policy that basically says, we will take your money, use your talents and benefit by your life but do not ask us to
acknowledge who you are.
We, the Church, are in dire need of a better way and it is the way of Jesus Christ whose
truth sets us free and whose love embraces us all. We ought to prefer a transparency of love where we embrace human beings
as complete human beings, loved no less by God than anyone else. I invite you to come out of the closet; I invite you into
the life of this church. I urge you—I urge all of us--to live lives worthy of the Gospel of Christ." X From the sermon, "These Scars, God's Grace," preached
by Dr. Bledsoe, October 14, 2007
